Comcast users will be able to use Twitter to change their channel through a new remote control feature.
The button is called "See It," and will allow users to change their channel to live or On-demand NBCUniversal programs, like The Voice or Sunday Night Football, according to Reuters. The button will also allow subscribers to use Fandango and set their dvrs.
Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, said in a statement, "Now with See It, they'll be able to tune in directly from Twitter."
The hope is to make the See It button similar to a Facebook "like" and the two companies are in conversations with several other TV networks and distribution partners to promote content through See It. "There is a lot of promotion and discussion around entertainment on Twitter but the link around that consumption is broken," Comcast chief business development officer, Sam Schwartz said.
"This is another tool to help people find what they want to watch."
Earlier this week, Twitter announced a partnership with Nielsen to track Twitter users' conversations on TV shows.
The Twitter TV Ratings will help expand their current rating system by tracking how many people are talking about a certain show and how many people are seeing those tweets.
It will be interesting to see if either of these new ventures work out for the social media company, though the latter is not expected to generate revenue.
