Fashion house Versace is not happy with the Lifetime film House of Versace and Gina Gershon’s portrayal of Donatella Versace.
They’re calling it a work of fiction and making it clear they had no role in the making of the film.
"Versace has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV movie about Mrs. Versace," Versace told Women’s Wear Daily. "Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is based, the movie should only be seen as a work of fiction.”
The film is based on the book written by Deborah Ball, Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival and touches on controversial subjects like her brother’s Gianni’s 1997 murder, her drug abuse and bankruptcy.
E! Online reports after the film’s premiere on Saturday, Oct. 5, a documentary called Versace: Beyond the Headlines will air.
When Maya Rudolph did an impression of Donatella on Saturday Night Live, however, she thought it was “hilarious.”
