Breaking Bad fans ran a real obituary for Walter White on Friday in the Albuquerque Journal, the newspaper of the fictional character’s hometown.

The obituary was run by a Breaking Bad fan group on Facebook, called “Unofficial Breaking Bad Fan Tour.” The group is headed by Albuquerque high school science teacher David Layman, who appeared in Breaking Bad’s pilot as an extra, and watched religiously ever since.

The obituary starts: "White, Walter aka 'Heisenberg,' 52, of Albuquerque, died Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer, and a gunshot wound,” according to the Albuquerque Journal.

The end of the obituary asks for donations to drug abuse prevention foundations in lieu of flowers. It concludes, “He will be greatly missed.”

The series finale of Breaking Bad aired last Sunday. An incredible 10.3 million viewers tuned in to see the AMC drama conclude.

Layman was, of course, one of the millions who was glued their screens during the finale. Layman explained why he chose to purchase space for the obituary in the Albuquerque Journal. He said, “Putting the obit in the paper was fitting because the series was based in Albuquerque and it provides some of us with some closure," according to Yahoo TV.
