A funeral for Walter White of Breaking Bad, was held in Albuquerque, NM on Saturday.
The Hollywood Reporter explains that the funeral was held where the show was set and filmed, and included a procession with a casket and Walter White's RV, famous from the show.
Fans of the show paid to attend and throw dirt onto the coffin that was placed in a real gravesite with a real tombstone.
200 people attended, along with set director Michael Flowers delivering the eulogy.
The funeral, also a fundraising event, raised $17,000 for Albuquerque’s Healthcare for the Homeless organization.
Controversy sparked when some feared that his tombstone would attract to many tourists to the funeral. They protested at the mock-funeral.
"My son is buried about 15 yards from where the makeshift gravesite is," Manuel Montano told radio station KOB. "This is a place of mourning. It's not a spectacle."
According to The Albuquerque Journal, controversy also sparked on Oct. 4, when superfan, David Layman, placed an obituary in the paper for Walter White.
A fan called the paper to explain that they ruined the episode for him, because he had not watched the finale yet.
Meanwhile, the paper received a 40 percent increase in single copy sales.
