Conservative columnist George Will, who has also been a longtime contributor to ABC News, has been hired by Fox News.
The Daily Caller first confirmed that Will, who currently writes a bi-weekly column for the Washington Post, has gone to Fox News to provide commentary at the right-leaning network. The news was later confirmed by Fox News.
"We are delighted to have someone of George's stature join FOX News,” Michael Clemente, Executive Vice President of News, said in the announcement. “His wisdom is enduring and his achievements are far too long to list.”
Will has been at ABC News since 1981, contributing to the network’s Sunday morning show, This Week. The Daily Caller notes that he has not been seen on the show lately, though. He will also be seen on Sundays on Fox News and other panels throughout primetime.
As TheWrap notes, Will’s column in the Washington Post began in 1974 and is published in over 475 newspapers around the country. He won the 1977 Pulitzer Prize for commentary.
He has also published several books, including Restoration: Congress, Term Limits and The Recovery of Deliberative Democracy and Statecraft as Soulcraft: What Government Does.
Fox News recently hired another Washington Post columnist, Howard Kurtz, whose show #MediaBuzz will start in September. Kurtz recently left CNN and Newsweek and left the Post in 2010.
