Another elimination occurred on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars on Monday night, and this time viewers sent Bill Nye home. His elimination follows Keyshawn Johnson’s from last week.
Nye battled an injury ahead of his exit, and despite doctor’s orders not to dance, he did it anyway. He tore his quadriceps tendon last week and he had to wear a leg immobilizer during his robot jazz routine with partner Tyne Stecklein.
After his elimination, “The Science Guy” expressed his sadness that he just couldn’t keep up with the other contestants.
"There's people here who are working hard, who are so good," he said, Us Weekly reports. "You see them improving every week. I'm not going to be able to keep up for that. But what breaks my heart is Tyne not being able to stay in. She's fantastic."
But judge Len Goodman praised his courage to get out there despite his injury, saying "Bill, to perform with that type of injury, it takes guts, it takes determination and bravery . . . that shows a lot about the man. Well done.”
EW notes even the fellow dancers complimented the duo on their perseverance, with Karina Smirnoff saying Stecklein did a “superb job” choreographing a nearly impossible routine.
