Willem Dafoe who played the green goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man expressed his opinion on the re-boot The Amazing Spider-Man earlier this week. Not too long ago audiences were pleasantly surprised by 2001s Spider-Man and thought nothing of a re-make, but with Disney buying Marvel that move was inevitable. While the newer version was received quite well, the old stars thought very differently of it.

Dafoe told Total Film that “I saw a trailer for the first Spider-Man reboot and I thought, ‘This is crazy! It’s not shot for shot, but it’s the same story, I thought, ‘This is sort of a cynical approach to making money!’” Clearly Dafoe has some strong opinions on Marc Webb's version of the masked web-slinger.

According to The Guardian Dafoe has yet to see the remake of Spider-Man and simply doesn't have any interest to either. What do you think, is Willem Dafoe in the right to defend his decade old film, or was the Spider-Man reboot just what the film world need?
