The X Games will be cutting back on events, down to two, beginning in 2014.
Events in Barcelona, Spain; Foz do Iguacu,Brazil; Munich, and Tignes, France will not be held in 2014, ESPN is reporting.
ESPN released a statement saying, "We are proud to have run world-class competitions for both the athletes and spectators; however the overall economics of these events do not provide a sustainable future path."
The international events were added to four sites in 2012. As the X Games was now at six sites, new events were added. Mountain Biking Slopestyle, Gmykhana GRID and Women's Skateboard Park were three of the new events added to the X Games.
According to The Associated Press, the events held in Aspen, Colo. and Austin, Texas, will continue and will still be shown internationally.
ESPN notes that the Aspen X Games will be held on Jan. 23-26 and in Austin from May 15-18. This will be the first year for the Games being held in Austin. For the past 11 years, the Summer X Games were held in Los Angeles.
2014 will be the 19th year of the X Games.
