As Caroline awaits a text from a surfer guy, she hopes that he’ll take her surfing, and when the surfer guy texts her, she needs Luis to cover her shift.
Luis initially says, “No” to Caroline, but after Max offers him an Oleg bait, Luis takes the shift.
An overjoyed Caroline talks about the new ‘it’ place that her guy is taking her to for dinner, while Han wonders why the diner can’t be the ‘it’ place. Caroline schools Han on how to make the diner into an ‘it’ place by suggesting the diner be hard to get into despite reservations.
Max would be the first to be on that list.
Over at the apartment, Caroline packs her date purse before the arrival of her date, while Max plays with her cat, Nancy.
When Caroline answers the door, Sophie barges in instead of the surfer guy. Sophie, being Sophie, hands Caroline a box of mints for her first kiss and a bag of condoms.
Caroline insists on being a lady before Sophie tells Caroline that she should get dressed even though Caroline is already dressed.
“You are?” Sophie exaggerates.
“And I like what I’m wearing,” Caroline says.
“You do?” echoes Sophie’s voice.
After waiting for twenty minutes, Sophie relays to Caroline that she has been stood up even though Caroline doesn’t believe it.
Nevertheless, Caroline calls the restaurant in case her surfer guy has checked in. Nope.
Meanwhile, Sophie sits herself on the couch and texts away. Caroline receives a message stating that she has just received a copy of He’s Just Not That Into You from Amazon courtesy of Sophie.
Now, Caroline admits to getting stood up.
In an effort to make Caroline feel better, Max takes her to Harlow and Daughters, where Surfer Guy was supposed to take her. Max scores seats with Caroline when she pretends to be transitioning into a man.
Still believing that Surfer Guy will show up, a hopeful Caroline receives a blocked number only for it to be Max saying that he’s not coming. So, in essence this isn’t some Katherine Heigl “movie” as Max points out.
The waiting around gets tiring as the ladies haven’t received their drinks yet. The customers at the next table haven’t either, and Max stands up to wait on them, leaving the waitress, York, to be upset.
A man hits on Caroline only because Max paid him to before Caroline and Max leave the hipster restaurant for the diner.
The nearly empty diner prompts Max to praise Han for making the diner an ‘it’ place, but Han said no one’s here because there was an opossum here.
Earl says that there is still an opossum in the restroom, and Han has to pull it out.
Oleg and Sophie enter the diner to tell Caroline that they’ve put a hit on Caroline’s surfer guy only to get the name wrong.
