Season two of Girls was pretty dark for the most part, to the point where many were wondering where the comedy went. With the new trailer for season three up, it looks like Lena Dunham is trying to lighten up the lives of Hannah Horvath and her crew in the new season.
The trailer kicks off with Adam (Adam Driver) trying to get Hannah to realize how great nature is. “I hate this,” she says. “You know, it’s really liberating to say no to sh*t you hate.”
There are also clips of the rest of the gang moving on from where we last left them, or at least trying to. Hannah goes to an interview, where she says she knows she's a person who can't keep her mouth shut.
It will be interesting to see how Marnie (Allison Williams) deals with Charlie leaving her again. Actor Christopher Abbott left the show back in April because of reported disagreements with Dunham. During the season two finale, Marnie and charlie had reconciled and were about to live happily ever after, but Dunham will have to cook up some reason for them to break up again.
Dunham, who created the show and plays Hannah, also shared a short teaser for the trailer on Instagram yesterday. In addition to Dunham, Williams and Driver, the show also stars Alex Karpovsky, Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke.
Girls’ new season kicks off with two new episodes on Jan. 12 at 10 p.m.
