During The Voice results show Thursday, the first promo for the live version of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic musical Sound of Music, dubbed Sound of Music, Live starring Carrie Underwood shows a behind the scenes look as rehearsals take place.
The three-hour NBC version will be based on the 1959 stage version, and not the film that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the Huffington Post reports. Along with Underwood as Maria the show stars True Blood’s Stephen Moyer as Captain Von Trapp, Smash’s Christian Borle, Go On star Laura Benanti and Private Practice’s Audra McDonald.
E! Online reported At the 2013 Emmys, Underwood was jokingly grilled by Amy Poehler on behalf of E! about the live adaptation, which she said "is different" from the film version starring Julie Andrews. Underwood goes on to say she’s never had to memorize lines before so she really had to “buckle down” to learn them.
With live TV anything can happen so I’m sure The Sound of Music, Live! will be at least successful in the ratings when it airs Thursday, Dec. 5 on NBC.
