ABC has decided not to bring back Body of Proof after spending several weeks looking into the possibility of bringing it back from cancellation.

As previously reported, ABC Studios had been mulling over whether or not the network wanted to revive Body of Proof. ABC even looked to bring the show to cable, but nothing came of that.

The show's initial cancellation came as a surprise as the show did fairly well in the ratings. The drama averaged 11 million viewers and a decent 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic.

Though the network thought about reviving the show, it shuffled its feet for too long and now there's no way the show would be ready in time for midseason, TheWrap reports.

Star Dana Delany delivered the news via her Twitter, writing: "Sorry to disappoint some, but #bodyofproof will not be resurrected. May she rest in peace. Time for new adventures!"

Deadline notes that the longer it takes ABC to make a move on Body of Proof, the less likely the show ever makes a return. Those involved in the show's production can only sit around for so long.

Delany's tweet makes it sound like she's done waiting around and might have new work already. Executive producer Matthew Gross is currently busy on a drama being adapted from Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series.
