Adrian Peterson is use to making game changing plays on the football field, but recently, the Minnesota Vikings running back made a life changing play when he met one very deserving teenager.
In a video posted on the Vikings website, Peterson met with Isaac Thronson, a 15-year-old who suffered from cancer as a young child. When Isaac was 7-years-old, he had his first seizure, which led to the discovery of several brain tumors. At the age of 10, he had his first brain surgery and chemotherapy treatment. Today, Isaac is a healthy, happy teenager, and thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he got to meet his idol.
Isaac served as the honorary guest at a Vikings practice, where he met Peterson and several other players. During their meeting, Peterson told Isaac that he would meet him on the field at the next day’s game with a pair of his gloves.
“It was awesome,” Isaac said, when describing his experience at the Vikings facilities.
Even though he’s the Vikings’ all time rusher and one of the league’s best runnings backs, Peterson still manages to stay grounded and welcomes hosting these special kids.
“To have kids want to meet me with their make a wish...words can’t even explain, express how that feels,” Peterson said. “I’m always all in to come out and talk to the kids, play around with them. It’s a blessing for me to come out and make their day.”
In addition to hosting several Make-A-Wish children throughout his NFL career, Peterson also founded the All Day Foundation in 2008. The organization raises money and awareness for programs that help at-risk children.
In September, Peterson visited children in critical care at the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, where he announced his charity would raise funds for children suffering from abuse and neglect. A few weeks after the announcement, the children’s hospital and the All Day Foundation raised $235,000.
In addition to helping you win your fantasy football league, Peterson is also helping kids around the country live better lives.
