Amazon Studio director Roy Price admits that he isn't a fan of Netflix's release model for their original shows.

The two online giants are in competition for consumers with their online streaming services and Price criticized Netflix's release model, The Hollywood Reporter notes. His comments are similar to what others have voiced in the past.

"If you release all at once, there's concern that it's hard to talk about the show," says Price. "I don't know if you've seen four episodes and I've seen six ... I can't really say anything except 'I like the show.' It's a little bit of a problem."

The Studio's director added, "And it kind of takes away one of the fun things about a TV show which is saying, 'Hey did you see that?' and 'What do you think is going to happen with blah blah blah?'"

Price noted that conversations on social media websites normally drop a little after the first few weeks of a show, but with "binge-watched shows, it goes down more severely."

Price said Amazon was going to try a model that splits down the line of Netflix's and the more traditional method. As previously reported, Amazon announced that its two new shows out over the next few weeks, Alpha House and Betas, would be released differently.

Amazon will make the first three episodes of each show available immediately and to anyone, but every episode thereafter will be released in the traditional once-a-week model for Amazon Prime subscribers.

THR notes Price said, "We thought, let's meet in the middle ... and see how that goes."
