AMC is hoping to add two more shows to its roster of original programming with Knifeman and the Ridley Scott-produced Galyntine. Both projects received pilot orders today.

Up first is Knifeman, which is set in 18th century London, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series would focus on an arrogant genius who could care less for social norms, but makes powerful discoveries. It is a Media Rights Capital production and was written by Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights).

It was inspired by The Knife Man: Blood, Body Snatching and the Birth of Modern Surgery, the John Hunter biography by Wendy Moore, notes TheWrap.

Galyntine sounds like a project right up Scott’s alley, blending fantasy and science fiction. It centers on a world after a cataclysmic event that was caused by technology. The survivors, spread around the world, all decide to try to keep living without technology as a result. Fringe vet Jason Cahill wrote the pilot and Scott is executive producing with David Zucker and The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero.

The two pilots will have a shot at making the network in 2015 and AMC Studios is producing the projects. They could join a line-up with The Walking Dead, the Walking Dead spin-off, Hell on Wheels and new dramas Turn and Halt & Catch Fire.

In other recent Scott news, the Prometheus director and online video network Machina have ended their plan to co-produce sci-fi shorts before it was even set to start. According to The Verge, that news was first reported by Videoink.
