In this first part of the Cycle 20 season finale, the three final models shot their Guess campaign and their Nylon spread, and filmed a promotional video for their final runway show.
After two models were eliminated last time, the remaining three weren’t sad to see them go. Jourdan was glad that Renee, her biggest competition, was gone. And everyone was happy to get rid of Chris.
They wouldn’t be happy for long, though, because all the eliminated models were coming back to support the final three. But, they couldn’t support everyone – they had to chose one model’s team to join. Kalani, Chlea, Mike, Nina, and Gianna all picked Cory’s team. Phil, Don, Jeremy, and Renee all picked Marvin’s team. But only Chris decided to support Jourdan. Jourdan was hurt that no one likes her but said she would rather have no supporters than Chris!
The pressure was on as the models got into hair and makeup for their Guess photo shoot, with their “catwalk crew” by their side. To add to the pressure, famous Guess photographer Yu Tsai would be shooting them. Marvin, who used to work at a Guess store, was star struck.
Cory was up first. He felt extra challenged because he would have to show his masculine side to fit into the Guess mold. He posed in an all-denim outfit, and although I thought he looked great, Marvin thought he’s too feminine of a male model for Guess.
Marvin may have been overconfident, though, because he struggled in his own photo shoot. Yu Tsai became frustrated with him, saying Marvin wasn’t listening to his direction.
In her photo shoot, Jourdan wore white denim shorts and a checkered crop top. She had trouble posing with her leg up because it was getting tired, so Johnny Wujek suggested that she prop it up with a box. Yu Tsai thought that was a bad idea, though, and the two got into a fight!
The next day, Cory, Marvin, and Jourdan shot with the fashion director and editor-in-chief of Nylon Magazine for a spread in the magazine. They were challenged to be “cool and natural but come alive,” and once again Cory felt that he was out of his comfort zone.
Then, the next day, Cory had to take on a role yet again in a fashion film. The three models created a love triangle where Cory played an abusive boyfriend, while Jourdan and Marvin basically got to play themselves. Cory even had to make out with Jourdan in one scene!
The models just kept going, because the next day was the final runway. Before they got into hair and makeup, though, the eliminated models had a chance to switch teams. Johnny Wujek announced that if they were on the team of the next top model, they would win a thousand dollars. Chlea wavered, but decided to stay on Cory’s team. Only Mike actually switched. To Cory’s disappointment, he left his team to join Jourdan’s. Ouch!
After all the models solidified their decisions, Cory, Marvin, and Jourdan went to get ready for the show. Twenty minutes before the show would start, Tyra came backstage to make an announcement – one of them would be eliminated right then and there!
The judges all appeared to critique their Guess photos. They thought Marvin’s photo was too young and soft, Cory’s wasn’t Guess material, and Jourdan’s was too Daisy Duke. So who would be eliminated, and who would be in the final two?
Well, we won’t find out until the second part of the finale next Friday on the CW!
