Angela Lansbury isn't exactly a fan that the Octavia Spencer-led remake of her mystery show still being called Murder, She Wrote.
It was announced in October that NBC would be remaking Murder, She Wrote, with The Help's Spencer in the lead role once played by Lansbury.
In the remake, writer Alexandra Cunningham and producer David Janollari are hoping to translate the long-running show with contemporary audiences. Spencer would play a hospital administrator who solves crime when not on the clock.
According to The Associated Press, Lansbury isn't a fan of the show retaining the name, thinking "it's a mistake."
The 88-year-old said, "I suddenly became a worldwide-known character as Jessica Fletcher and really built an enormous audience, which I have to this day." She added, "That was the thing that really made me a star in the minds of everybody."
Murder, She Wroter helped Lansbury earn 12 straight Emmy nominations and is not into it being remade. "I think it's a mistake to call it 'Murder, She Wrote.'"
Lansbury said, "Because 'Murder, She Wrote' will always be about Cabot Cover and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person..."
While she may not be a fan of the remake, Lansbury spoke positively of Spencer. "I saw her in 'The Help' and thought she was absolutely wonderful, a lovely actress. So I wish her well, but I wish it wasn't in 'Murder, She Wrote.'"
