The venerable beauty, Angelina Jolie (voted sexiest woman alive in 2004), choked back tears upon accepting the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Governors Awards ceremony, on November 16th. Jolie's philanthropic and humanitarian interests stemmed from the disparity among the refugees of Cambodia, which she was exposed to when filming Tomb Raider.
Look to the Stars chronicles Jolie's humanitarian efforts across the globe; spanning from The Jolie-Pitt Foundation- whose aim is to eradicate extreme rural penury, protect depleting natural resources, and conserve biodiversity in wildlife- to The Clinton Global Initiative (which Jolie co-chairs), which helps fund academia for children affected by economic and warfare conflict.
E! reports that Jolie thanked Brad Pitt upon receiving the award: "My love. Your support and your guidance make everything I do possible." The Jean Hersholt Award is given to one in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought acclaim of character , and munificence, to the industry.
Jolie was accompanied by Brad Pitt and her son, Maddox at the awards ceremony.
