BBC America has so much confidence in the new series Atlantis becoming a hit that it has renewed the series for a second season, even though only one episode has aired.

Atlantis comes from the team behind Merlin and Misfits and is a Urban Myth Films project. According to TheWrap, the series is a BBC Cymru Wales/BBC America co-production and the executive producing team includes Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy and Howard Overman, with BBC Cymru Wales’ Bethan Jones.

The series only premiered on Saturday as part of BBC America’s Supernatural Saturdays block. It averaged 838,000 viewers in total. As Deadline notes, the series stars Jack Donnelly, Mark Addy and Robert Emms as heroes from Greek myths and follows their adventures.

“We are all thrilled at Urban Myth Films that Atlantis has been re-commissioned and look forward to continuing the legend next year,” the executive producers said in a statement.

Atlantis’s strong debut may have been because it aired on the same day as the Doctor Who anniversary special, which drew 3.6 million viewers. It was the network’s most watched broadcast ever.

Atlantis airs on Saturdays at 9 p.m.
