Legendary comedian Bill Cosby is now 76 years old and what he has done on television is remarkable. The last time he was on the big screen was in 2004’s Fat Albert. Now it’s 2013 and Bill Cosby is hoping to return to primetime television for the first time since the Cosby Show days.
Cosby spoke to Yahoo TV about his upcoming Comedy Central concert called Bill Cosby: Far From Finished. This will air on November 23 and will be his first televised concert special in 30 years. While speaking on this, he also mentioned that he’s developing a new television series, which will be a family comedy.
Cosby has joined forces with one of Cosby Show’s executive producers, Tom Werner to develop a family comedy that he says “will satisfy the people who have come to him in public places saying, ‘Can’t you put something on that I can watch?’”
According to TV Guide, Cosby wants it to be know that this new series won’t be a remake of The Cosby Show, but instead would feature older children and their relationships with their parents.
Cosby said, “I want to be able to deliver a wonderful show to a network because there is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness without going into the party attitude. They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who makes mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness. So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby, and that will be a series, I assume, that we could get enough people week after week after week to tune in to, to come along with us.”
Besides this, Cosby is also working on rebooting his animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids with writer and producer Tom Straw.
Expect Bill Cosby: Far From Finished to premiere on November 23rd at 8pm on Comedy Central.
