SCENE OF THE CRIME: N/a
VICTIM: Miguel Silva
SQUIDTERN Clark Edison (technically not an intern).

The episode begins with Booth and Brennan in Buenos Aires for their honemoon. Booth is in heaven, but of course Brennan struggles with doing nothing. For some fun (for Bones that is), they go to a morgue where. They meet Dr. Anastasia Perez. Bones, as one of the nations top forensic anthropologists (if not the greatest), is incredibly competitive. Booth wants to leave so he makes up an excuse with “wind surfing.” As they turn to leave, Bones makes a stunning revelation in Dr. Perez’s case, and Booth wants to take it to the cops. Dr. Perez is examining recently excavated bones, where three sets of remains are found. She assumes they were all burned long ago, but Bones discovers that one of the three was burned very recently. Bones offers her assistance against Dr. Perez’s and Booth’s will.

They call the Jeffersonian, and everyone is also puzzled as to why Booth and Brennan are working on their honeymoon. Nonetheless they agree to help.

It is discovered that the victim was a 90 year old Caucasian white male. Angela begins to work on a facial reconstruction. While Clark , brought in during Brenna’s absence, cleans the bones.

Back in Buenos Aires, Dr. Perez discovers that the insects found in particulates died weeks ago, whereas the body was at least a month old.

Sweets calls Booth and complains about him working. Booth claims that he is a “National hero” because people recognize him from Brennan’s novel. He asks Sweets to check a Valenza, an Buenos Aires officer. Booth wants to verify that he is honorable before he offers to help him. Valenza and Booth watch security tapes and see an unidentified vehicle.

Meanwhile, Angela and Hodgins are staying in the home of Bones and Booth. They are house sitting and watching Chrsitine. Christine and Michael Vincent are playing together.

While Valenza and Booth are at lunch, they find victim is named Miguel Silva. They visit his home, and meet his wife. They are astonished by how beautiful she is. They question her. It was normal for Miguel to disappear at times. He was a private man. She married him because he saved her from a squalid life in a poor neighborhood.

Sweets calls with information on Valenza. He claims that he is good on paper, but his sense of loyalty could be altered. Booth chooses to trust Valenza.

Bones and Dr. Perez are working together in the morgue. Dr. Perez discovers that gasoline was used to burn the body between 300-500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Valenza and Booth drive around Silva’s wife’s old neighborhood. They find his car, and they find a key that is not a car key.

Later Clark calls with more findings on the bone samples sent to the Jeffersonian. He comforts Dr. Perez, and assures her that Brennan is the most aggressive with those she respects the most. He discovered that the victim inhaled a large amount of a gas called Zylong B. This leads the team to believe that the victim was prisoner in a concentration camp. However, at this point, Booth and Valenza have managed to find Silva’s secret quarters. He was a Nazi.

The Buenos Aires team meet in the quarters to search the area further. They find blood stains that occurred at least 24 hours after the murder. They also find a piece of paper that says “MELMUR.”

The victim was reffered to as the “Monster of Mydonic” because of how many jews he killed.

Back in the lab, Dr. Perez and Bones look for a cause of death. Dr. Perez drops the skull, but Bones oddly doesn’t mind. They work together to put it back together. Bones states, “We’ve all dropped human remains before.”

Booth and Valenza meet a Nazi expert that can help with the case. He wants Booth’s autograph on his copy of Brennan’s book.

Back at the Jeffersonian, Christine and Michael Vincent are in the lab, and Cam is chasing them. Angela discovered that the crate dragged in Silva’s quarters was Nazi gold.

Conveniently Bones and Dr. Perez learn that there was gold in the skull. Ironically dropping the skull was beneficial to the case! The Gold bars in Silva’s room were used to kill him.

Booth and Valenza track the gold, and they brought its purchaser in for questioning. He bought the gold from the victim’s wife, Bianca. They call her in for questioning.

She admits to selling the gold, but she denies killing him. However, they arrest her anyway.

For what seems like the case’s end, Dr. Perez offers Brennan a hand shake on a job well done, and volunteers to handle all of the work necessary for the upcoming trial. During the handshake, Bones comes to a realization.

Bones rushes to Booth to inform him that he and Valenza arrested the wrong person. Dr. Perez, just as the victim, suffers from Polydactyl, therefore she was born with two thumbs. During the handshake, Bones could feel where she got it removed. Because it is hereditary, Dr. Perez is related to the victim. She was his Grandaughter. Booth immediately questions her, and she finally admits that when he revealed himself as a Nazi, she killed him. Having dedicated her life to researching victims of Nazi killers, Dr. Perez could not live with the news of her grandfather.
