CBS moving forward with ‘How I Met Your Dad’

With the conclusion of How I Met Your Mother happening soon, CBS has decided to officially move forward with the spin off, How I Met Your Dad.

CBS has handed out a hefty pilot-production commitment and will start filming the pilot for How I Met Your Dad, The Hollywood Reporter added.

How I Met Your Dad will be produced by Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Emily Spivey. The comedy was created by Bays and Thomas who created How I Met Your Mother.

The plan is to shoot the pilot as a stand-alone episode. This will not be a back door planted pilot which would be impacted by the conclusion of How I Met Your Mother.

Time reported that the upcoming comedy will feature the same storyline that How I Met Your Mother followed but this time the story will be told from the mothers viewpoint. Cast members of HIMYM are not expected to be featured in How I Met Your Dad.

HIMYM is the second highest-rated CBS series behind The Big Bang Theory.
