The Kansas City defense, which is normally good, couldn't stop Peyton Manning who threw for 323 yards and a touchdown in Denver's 27-17 win over the previously undefeated Chiefs.
The Broncos are now tied with the Chiefs on top of the AFC West, both teams now 9-1. The Broncos offensive line had a fantastic showing in the biggest game of the season.
"The protection was outstanding, we ran the ball consistently, tried to keep them off-balance," Manning said. "We wanted a mix of running and passing game and I'm really proud of those guys up front."
According to ESPN the two teams will meet again in two weeks. But before Manning gives Alex Smith another shot, he has another task in taking down Tom Brady and the Patriots.
USA Today reports that the Chiefs had a league-leading 36 sacks coming into the game, but left Manning nearly untouched, which was good news for the Broncos as their quarterback has been having problems with his carefully wrapped ankles.
The rematch will take place Dec. 1 at Arrowhead Stadium.
