Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was arrested for speeding and possession of marijuana Sunday night.

According to CBS Sports, Bowe was driving in Riverside, Missouri when his 2011 Audi A-8 was pulled over for going 48 in a 35 mph zone. When officials smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle, Bowe, along with one of his passengers, were arrested.

"While questioning the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside of the vehicle. The officer then requested the driver and two passengers to get out of the vehicle," Riverside police reported. "Once out of the vehicle the officer explained to the driver, who owned the vehicle, that he was a K-9 Officer and that the dog would alert to an illegal substance.”

The K-9 unit found 2 two bags of weed totaling 14.6 grams.

TMZ reports that one of Bowe's passengers, George S. Thompson, claimed that the pot was his and was arrested along with Bowe for marijuana possession. Thompson also had 2 joints on him at the time of arrest.

Bowe and Thompson were taken to a nearby police station, charged with speeding and possession and released on $750 and $500 bonds respectively.

The Chiefs have yet to comment on the incident. After their bye last weekend, Kansas City Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos this week for the AFC West title.
