Colin Farrell had a surprise guest at his Los Angeles this weekend when a crazed fan managed to get up to his front door.

According to TMZ’s law enforcement sources, the man went to Farrell’s home on Saturday and hoped to see the Irish actor. The man got as far as Farrell’s front door. He was actually home at the time, so he got in touch with an assistant, who then called the police.

The man was taken into custody and interviewed by police. They decided to hold him under a 5150 psychiatric hold. His name was not released, but the site reports that the man is not a U.S. citizen. He went to Los Angeles hoping to meet the Total Recall actor.

As the Daily Mail notes, Farrell does have some experience dealing with crazed fans. In 2006, when he was making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, a telephone sex worker held up the interview and left her self-published book about Farrell on Leno’s desk. The actor got a restraining order against the woman.

Farrell will next be seen in Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks as author P.L. Travers’ father. He will also be seen in Winter’s Tale and Miss Julie.
