Miley Cyrus currently leads Time’s online poll to determine its 2013 Person of the Year. If the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer wins, she’d join the ranks of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Winston Churchill.

Time editors will be the official deciders of the magazine’s annual title but wanted to hear who their readers thought “most influenced the news this year for better or worse.” Undoubtedly, Cyrus has made her fair share of headlines in 2013.

USA Today reports that Cyrus has garnered 28% of the vote, more than any other nominee. The 21-year-old singer is beating Edward Snowden, last year’s winner Barack Obama, and even Pope Francis.

Cyrus has an impressive lead, but it may be due to vote tampering. In an elaborate prank, two programmers have rigged the poll to cast multiple vote for Cyrus, however it shouldn’t affect the final outcome.

“Time and Poptip are aware of the efforts to affect the results of the Person of the Year poll, and have measures in place so that only legitimate votes are being incorporated in the final tally,” a spokesperson for Time told Mashable.

Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 4th. The winner of the reader’s poll will be revealed Dec. 6th, and the official editor’s choice will be announced Dec. 11th.
