David Bradley has replaced John Hurt in FX's new series The Strain, just days after the show was announced.

Bradley, who played Filch in the Harry Potter series, has replaced Hurt in a key role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bradley is slated to play Professor Abraham Setrakian, who is a Holocaust survivor, who lives in Spanish Harlem and runs a pawn shop. While the outbreak begins to spread, Setrakian may have important answers for anyone who might listen.

As previously reported, FX has decided to put in a full 13-episode series order Guillermo del Toro's The Strain. Del Toro, Chuck Hogan and Carlton Cuse are producing, while Cuse is stepping in as showrunner.

The Pacific Rim director and Hogan co-wrote the pilot script and del Toro will direct. FX hopes to have The Strain premiere July 2014.

The series will follow Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), who works for the Centers for Disease Control and has to stop the spread of a vampire virus throughout New York City. Sean Astin and Mia Maestro are also slated to appear, unless they too are recast.
