David Guetta, the French DJ/music producer, has teamed up with United Nations officials for “The World Needs More...” campaign to help raise money for humanitarian needs around the globe. This campaign encourages fans to use Twitter to raise money for victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. By adding just one word to the phrase “The World Needs More...” and tweeting the message, $1 will be donated every time from major sponsors.
David Guetta’s new song with Mikky Ekko, “One Voice,” is the soundtrack for the campaign, which aims to raise awareness and funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Guetta will donate $1 each time fans tweet “#theworldneedsmore #love.” He told Rolling Stone, “There’s been a lot of my songs about love and that’s the kind of person that I am. It’s the biggest energy in the world. Universal love.”
On November 22, Guetta used the United Nations headquarters in New York City as a projection screen for the video of “One Voice” with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Guetta wanted to find a way for people to help using the power of social media and his network. Through this campaign, he was able to achieve his goal. David Guetta believes that music is a powerful way to connect and to bring people together, and he was honored to be a part of this campaign.
