Derrick Rose put the Bulls up one with a baseline floater over two defenders, leaving the Knicks a little time to win the game. Carmelo Anthony's jumper was short on the next play and that was that. Chicago got the win 82-81.
“Tyson jumped as high as he can get to try to get that block,” Anthony said. “He made a great shot. It was a prayer, but he made it.”
This was Rose's first game back home since coming back from his injury, and he ended his homecoming with a bang.
"That's what builds your résumé," Rose said. "Leaves a mark on your legacy."
According to ESPN Rose was a game time decision to play with neck stiffness. Maybe as a result of the neck problems, he only shot 7-23 finishing the game with 18 points.
NY Daily News reports that the Bulls only had 11 points in the final period, but it was enough to hand the Knicks their first loss. Out of those 11 points Chicago only had two fired goals and both were by Rose. There were a lot of turnovers and misses in that quarter but Rose kept it together.
"He showed a lot of toughness," Thibodeau said. "It was a struggle early on in the game. He found his way at the start of the third, that got him a little lift."
