Florida Gators’ starting offensive tackle Tyler Moore is out for the season after surgery.
According to USA Today, the twenty-year-old had surgery on Wednesday to repair a compound fracture in his right elbow, which he suffered on Tuesday in a scooter accident.
Gators coach Will Muschamp confirmed the news Wednesday on the SEC teleconference.
"Unfortunately last night Tyler Moore was riding home on his scooter and he came around a curve there and his back tire came out from underneath him and he had a compound fracture of his elbow," Muschamp said. "So he'll be out for the season."
The Gators were ranked No. 10 in the preseason AP Poll but are 4-4 on the year after having lost six starters and 10 players overall to season-ending injuries, ESPN notes.
Moore had started the year in place of Chaz Green, who suffered a torn labrum in preseason, then switched from right to left tackle after D.J. Humphries sprained his MCL last week in practice.
This season Florida has started five different combinations in eight games on the offensive line. On Saturday, they will again have to move the players around like chess pieces when they host Vanderbilt.
Max Garcia will likely move to left tackle from guard and Kyle Koehne and Ian Silberman will both get playing time at Garcia's left guard spot.
