Fox orders ‘Fatrick’ pilot from ‘Don’t Trust The B--- In Apt. 23’ creator and ‘Way Way Back’ directors

Fox has ordered a comedy pilot titled Fatrick that comes from the mind of Nahnatchka Khan, the creator of ABC’s short-lived cult series Don’t Trust The B--- In Apt. 23. The Way Way Back directors Jim Rash and Nat Faxon have been signed to direct.

Khan wrote the pilot with Corey Nickerson and it will be produced by 20th Century Fox TV, reports TheWrap.

The plot centers on Patrick, a 30-year-old who is now trying to come to terms with being known as the fat kid in school with the nickname Fatrick. The audience will be taken back and forth between the present and the past, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

Fatrick is Fox’s first pilot order of the season, although John Mulaney’s autobiographical project and another co-created by Tina Fey received full series orders.

It is also the first TV directing effort for Faxon and Rash, who won an Oscar for co-writing Alexander Payne's The Descendents. The two have appeared on TV as actors, as Rash stars on NBC’s Community and Faxon was on Fox’s short-lived Ben & Kate. They also directed this year’s The Way Way Back.
