Fox announced Friday that it has put in a 13-episode order for Bordertown, a new series from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.
The animated comedy is set in a Southwest desert town that sits right on the U.S.-Mexico border. Bud Buchwald and Ernesto Gonzales are the patriarchs of their families and neighbors. Bud is a Border Patrol agent and has three kids and is a little threatened by the cultural shift going on in his town. Ernesto has four kids and is proud to be successful in America after coming from Mexico. Bud and Ernesto’s lives clash and their families become bound in surprising ways.
The network said that the show, which was created by Mark Hentemann, will likely premiere during the 2014-2015 television season. MacFarlane will be an executive producer, along with Alex Carter (Family Guy) and Dan Vebber (American Dad).
Fox’s 2014 Animation Domination lineup will look a little different next season. While Bordertown is likely joining the Sunday night programming, Fox said in July that American Dad is leaving. New episodes will air exclusively on TBS.
Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons will both be back, though.
Fox had ordered a new animated show for this season, called Murder Police, but it was canned before a single episode aired.
