Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, Aaron Goodwin and the Tech crew, Billy and Jay took us to Transylvania for the holiday! I have to be honest; at times it was extremely hard to take notes, the program was so riveting. I did take five pages of notes, but I must really encourage the reader to find and watch this episode for themselves! And, don’t worry – I won’t make this five pages long!
If you aren’t familiar with the legend of Dracula, you probably weren’t born on this planet. Vlad the Impaler is the name given to the local hero-leader of this area after his death. He was protecting his people against invaders and what better way but to display the dead bodies of his enemies on stakes all along the road heading toward his castle! The castle is well known for torture and a place the Ghost Adventures Crew has always wanted to investigate. There was so much history in the area, they had to spread out and take different locations at the same time. Zak said he’d always felt an eerie connection to the place. “Vlad the Impaler”, from the Order of the Dragon, a religious faction of many European noblemen. Vlads father chose the name as close to Dragon as he could and it actually means “son of the Devil”. He said you never knew which side Vlad was fighting on.
Aaron and Nick headed to the Castle, while Zak and an interpreter went to the forest, Hoia Baciu, two and a half hours away. There is a clearing in the middle of the dark forest that nothing will grow and locals never enter. Tales of UFO sightings and other weird things happening abound.
The castle “Valakia” was built in the 1400s and only remnants of the original remain. Nick and Aaron spoke with an expert, Lupe, on Vlad. Twenty thousand souls were killed to scare invading enemies. They asked a local woman about the castle and she said while inside, she felt as if someone was watching her. Nick and Aaron started investigating in the tower but captured nothing. So, they headed deeper inside the castle, it was very creepy.
Meanwhile, Zak and his interpreter stopped people just outside of the forest and asked them about it. They said they don’t get too close to the spot where nothing grows. They believed it was some sort of vortex that lets demons into our side. Before he investigated, Zak talked to a professor. He said nothing has grown in that area for about 200 years. People see lights at night and other strange occurrences. Some people believe it’s a place that extraterrestrials visit. Zak rented a 4 x 4, to get in where a car couldn’t and wore protection against bugs and animals.
Aaron and Nick investigated in the throne room of the castle. They listened as the static night vision camera was rolling. They heard footsteps and the camera (they later learned) captured an orb glowing in the room the same time the footsteps were recorded. They repeatedly called out different questions, but perhaps because they were always in English, the only response they received was “hello”. Maybe that’s the only word the spirits knew in English?
Many of the people Zak spoke to warned him of the clearing in the forest. But that only excited Zak further. He and Billy headed straight toward that spot. Turning off the four wheeler they heard distant chanting or drums. Billy felt weird vibes and got a melameter out. For a brief time they both felt anxiety and then it left as quickly as it arrived. They noted the atmosphere there was strange. They set up the x camera. Zak called for Billy and was gripping his arm. He looked funny but said he felt fine. He just kept repeating “Billy”. Later he said the felt an experience he had never had on another investigation. He stepped into the circle. He said the back part of his head was tingling and he felt chilled. He said he felt safe in the circle and not when he stepped out. He didn’t look fine although he kept saying he was. Just then a subsonic sound was heard and the melameter spike. Zak said he wanted to leave. Billy aid he could feel the energy. Zak said it was terrifying but awesome t the same time. They saw a reddish orange light and decided to go further into the forest.
Back in the castle Nick and Aaron capture something on an EVP. “Aaron” was heard. Aaron asked, “How do you know my name?”He asked if that person had been murdered and these words were heard, “flowers”…”Vlad”…They shared this with Zak and Billy.
The guys all go together to investigate the last location. This was another castle and they gave some history behind it. It was where Vlad was taken prisoner and locked in the dungeon there. Their biggest challenge was trying to find locals who would talk about the place. One worker there had let in a group of satanic worshipers. They had done some type of ritual in the castle. When they left, the story goes that all the heavy doors suddenly started opening and closing all by themselves. One tour guide said that their ghosts are very civilized, they like music. Then they spoke with an alleged descendant of Vlads, a Princess Brianna who said she and her sons are the only heirs left of his. I did try to validate this but in my limited research, no such heir was found. Zak was interviewing her in a courtyard surrounded by flowers. They connected the EVP Aaron captured to this setting. They shared it with her and she agreed that’s what the meaning behind the words had meant.
We were shown the place where Vlad supposedly died and then the spot he’s supposedly buried. The guys were very nervous and wondered if he was really dead. They did an EVP session and heard what sounded like a bunch of women laughing. That was really creepy! Zak had been asking a few questions in Romanian. They decided to go into the room where the satanic worshipers had gathered. Aaron felt as if his heart was cramping up, like he was going to have a heart attack. Zak asked questions in the chapel, again in Romanian and heard, “I was bitten” in English! Nick was in a different room and asked several questions, blowing out candles as he did so. He heard nothing until he blew out the last candle. Then we all heard footsteps.
They were all amazed with their experiences and Billy stated that the EVPs they collected were “off the charts”!
