With Thanksgiving less than a week away, celebrities are already getting into the giving mood. Gloria and Emilio Estefan will host the 6th annual Feed a Friend Thanksgiving Event at Bongos Cuban Café. The restaurant along with several donors provides a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless and other families in need.

This coming turkey day, Bongos Cuban Café will welcome less fortunate guests to enjoy a Cuban-American feast. There will be classic Thanksgiving dishes like turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce; however, traditional Cuban cuisine will also be served at the the Miami based restaurant.

In addition to this cornucopia of food, there will be live music for adults as well as face painting and crafts for children.

“Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s about sharing family, food, and love, which is why the ‘Thanksgiving: Feed A Friend’ is my favorite event that we do, offering a hot meal for the families that need it most,” Estefan said.

Estefan and her husband host Feed a Friend, but there will be several other celebrity volunteers at the event as well. In years past, Rosie O’Donnell, Mayor of Miami Tomas Regalado, and Mexican actor Khotan Fernández helped serve families in the food line.

“I feel it’s so important to give back,” Estefan said. “This event is proof that the giving spirit is alive and well.”

During its five year history, Feed a Friend has served more than 10,000 families. This year, it will bring holiday meals to even more, when Bongos Cuban Café opens its doors Nov. 28th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
