The Harlem Globetrotters have always amazed crowds, young and old alike. Rookie Thunder Law continued the tradition by setting a new record for the longest basketball shot ever made on November 14 in Phoenix at the US Airways Center.

November 14 is Guinness World Record Day where several people try to one-up the previous record in whatever category it may be. Professional athletes are not immune to the frenzy and the Mirror UK reported that Harlem Globetrotter Cory “Thunder” Law entered the Guinness World Records for the world's longest basketball shot, an amazing 109 feet 9 inches away from the basket. This is over 5 feet longer than the previous record held by former Pepperdine University player Elan Buller in 2011.

Of course, this is not the first time the Harlem Globetrotters have entered the books. According to the Harlem Globetrotters website, just last year player Tiny Sturgess was recognized as the “World’s Tallest Basketball Player” at 7 feet 8 inches, Scooter Christensen set the world record of "Longest Duration Spinning a Basketball on the Nose" by lasting 5.1 seconds, and back in 2000 Michael “Wild Thing” Wilson set the record with a jaw-dropping 12 foot dunk (NBA regulation is 10 feet).

To see everything from the amazing to the ridiculous, the Mirror UK has a live blog of records being achieved.
