A day after breaking the news himself on his radio show, NBC officially announced today that shock jock Howard Stern will be judging a third season of the summer talent series America’s Got Talent. Supermodel Heidi Klum, former Spice Girls singer Mel B, Howie Mandel and host Nick Cannon will all be back as well.

Stern said on his show Tuesday that he could confirm that he will be back for a third season as judge. “It started out as a goof. Now it's becoming a job,” he said. “I am very excited to be going back to America's Got Talent. I will go back [for] one more season.”

Today, NBC President of Alternative and Late-Night Programming Paul Telegdy announced that the lineup for the 2014 season has been set, praising their job performance for last season.

“Howard, Heidi, Mel and Howie have proven that they are a dynamic quartet of judges who aren’t afraid to share their opinions, while at the same time creating fireworks of their own,” Telegdy said. “Along with Nick serving as an incomparable host, our talent on ‘Talent’ is among the finest on all of television.”

The network added that auditions for the new season of AGT already kicked off and AGTAuditions.com has been set up to provide info on open calls and online auditions. The next auditions are set for Dec. 7 in Denver. Houston, Indianapolis and Los Angeles are next.

NBC boasted that AGT averaged a 3.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic this past summer.
