Saturday morning at the Farmhampton Inn with only thirty-three hours until nuptials was greeted with a scramble-off, many more, “thank you, linus,” a suicide mess fearing hotel clerk, and still no Marshall.
Robin, continuing her feuds with Barney’s mom shows up to brunch wearing Loretta’s blouse, which of course causes tension and Loretta even takes off her earrings ready to fight. Instead of a fight Robin and Loretta get into a debate over who makes better scrambled eggs, Robins Mom or Loretta. We learn we don’t actually know a lot about Robin’s mom except for she once got stung by a jelly fish and is afraid of flying. Robin’s mom was to show up and prove her eggs are better, but her fear of flying kept her from getting on her flight and thus, will not be at the wedding. Instead, Robin has a scramble-off with Barney’s mom, who had already been making eggs for all of the guests at the inn. In the middle of the scramble-off, Loretta challenges Robin (who doesn’t seem to know how to scramble an egg) with how she will cook for her children. Robin, who we learned in previous seasons, is actually unable to have children, but Loretta didn’t know. She quits the scramble-off and leaves Barney to explain.
Meanwhile, Lily crushes her cup every time anyone comes close to saying a word having to due with judgeship, court, gavel, etc. In turn, we get to see more Linus.
Marshall finally gives Daphne a piece of his mind for sending lily the text and causing drama in his marriage, for not playing zitch dog with him and for taking over the radio. In punishment, Marshall lays down the law and claims the radio. Hopefully, Daphne will learn to love, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” because what is a road trip with Marshall, without it?
Ted found himself wanting to go up to the lighthouse alone, but the hotel clerk refused to let him go. He assumed Ted was too lonely to go on such a romantic adventure and he would for sure jump off the lighthouse and leave him to a suicide mess. After continuously refusing to let him go alone, Ted seeks lily’s advice. She tells him the “worst advice she ever gave” and suggested he take Cassie and just try to fall in love with her because she was available. Ted takes her up to the lighthouse with him, (literally, she fell down the stairs and needed to be carried up to the lighthouse) but she just wasn’t the right person to be there with. He vows to go back with the person who is. Flash-forward and we find Ted at the lighthouse with, The Mother. They share an adorable moment and then Ted, “tries to make the day even better,” and proposes. FINALLY!
