Jacki Weaver and Anna Gunn have been cast in Gracepoint, which is the new name for the U.S. adaptation of U.K.'s Broadchurch.
The two join already cast show star David Tennant for the series, Deadline reports. James Strong, who was a director for several episodes of the U.K. series, will be directing the pilot.
Breaking Bad alum Gunn will play Det. Ellie Miller, who partners up with the newly joined Det. Emmett Carver (Tennant), who got a promotion she wanted. Silver Linings Playbook's Weaver will play Susan Wright, who is a mysterious person who just moved to town.
As previously reported in October, Tennant and series creator Chris Chibnall would be joining the pilot episode for the adaptation. Tennant starred as the lead character in the original series.
The Scottish actor will be sporting an American accent for his character, but the show would still follow the original where there was a murder in a small town and everyone is swept up into the case.
The strength of the original series was that audience has as much a clue to the identity of the murderer as the police do and everyone becomes a suspect along the way.
