Jan Nash has been hired to take over as showrunner for TNT's popular Rizzoli & Isles after Janet Tamaro stepped down.

As previously reported back in September, Tamaro left the show at the end of its fourth season. She decided not to renew her contract, but wasn't completely abandoning the show.

She would still around as a consulting producer. "I did four seasons that I'm incredibly proud of, and the show is in great shape," she said at the time. It's been phenomenal, but I'm at the top of my game creatively and really want to use the juice I have to produce other projects."

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Nash was tapped by TNT to take control of the show. The crime procedural has done well in the ratings for TNT, as it is the network's No. 1 all time show and No. 2 scripted show on cable television.

Nash's first task will likely be to figure out how the show will handle Lee Thompson Young's character since the actor committed suicide in August. The remaining episodes of the fourth season did not address the topic.
