Jay Z has decided that he will continue his holiday collection at luxury retail store Barneys New York despite being hit by a lawsuit after two black shoppers were questioned when attempting to make expensive purchases.
The rapper has a collection with Barneys which features men's furnishings and clothes for the winter. Jay Z has been under pressure from fans and critics to end his partnership with Barneys because of the accusations of racial profiling.
Jay Z felt it was unfair that he was receiving the backlash and he penned a letter to his website in which he said he'll look at all the facts before coming to a decision.
"I am in a unique position to affect change to this disturbing issue," he says in the statement. "The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping someone address the problem. I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and reverse policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on."
He also revealed that 100% of the sales from his holiday collection will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation. An additional 10% of all sales from Barneys nationwide on Nov. 20 will go to his charity.
