The illustrious 23 year old actor, Jennifer Lawrence, shocked crowds at the London Premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, on November 13, 2013, when she stopped mid-interview to comfort a handicapped girl sobbing at the security checkpoint.
Lawrence thanked the little girl, clad in a purple flourished dress, for coming to the premiere. Lawrence then posed for the camera with the little girl, now smiling ear to ear, as crowds of people gaped at the kindness, and character, of the young film star.
The Daily Mail reports that Jennifer spoke out at the premier against the sexing of young women. “It is a part of the entertainment industry that sells. Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more.” Lawrence is known for voicing her opinions publicly, often with scathing precision. It is not often that young stars question the morality on entertainment openly, but Jennifer sums it up nicely.
Lawrence strives to be a positive role model for young girls, and has stated that she makes conscience social choices keeping her audience in mind. E! reports that Lawrence was careful in not mentioning Miley Cyrus. As an actor Lawrence hopes to portray woman as tough, independent leaders, accentuating strength and perseverance over cosmetic beauty.
