Jennifer Lawrence will have a new hairdo when she starts promoting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which opens in two weeks. The Oscar winner debuted her new pixie cut on Facebook Wednesday and today she explained her decision in typical Lawrence style.
“It grew to an awkward gross length, and I kept putting it back in a bun and I was like ‘I don’t want to do this,’ so I just cut it off,” Lawrence, 23, explained during a Yahoo! Q&A session with director Francis Lawrence and Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, reports Access Hollywood. “It couldn’t get any uglier.”
Lawrence also calmed fans who may be concerned that Katniss Everdeen might have the pixie cut in the next films. “This isn’t how Katniss is going to look in the next movies – I’m wearing a wig for filming,” she confirmed.
The actresss showed off the new ‘do on Facebook, sharing several new pics, including one where she’s testing out Google Glass.
Lawrence and Francis Lawrence also covered topics related to the film and Lawrence also revealed that she had a crush on Justin Timberlake in the 1990s. “I remember buying the *NSYNC CD,” she recalled. “Remember how CDs had the pullout picture things? I got so overwhelmed with hormones, I almost threw up!”
The Hunger Games cast also sat down for a Goolge+ hangout, reports CNN. Lawrence said that the injury she suffered during Catching Fire was an ear infection that left her deaf for over two weeks.
“I got a double ear infection because I had to keep diving into this water, and then I had to keep jumping into this water that was supposed to be like hurricane water, with really powerful jets ... and punctured my eardrum,” she said.
Catching Fire hits theaters on Nov. 22 and Lawrence can also be seen in American Hustle next month.
