Jon Gosselin is opening up in a new interview about how his eight children are affected by the fame they experienced after appearing on the TLC reality shows Jon and Kate Plus 8 and Kate Plus 8.
During a segment on OWN’s Where Are They Now?, Gosselin admitted his twins Cara and Mady, 13, and sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel, 9, have problems “developmentally.”
Now working as a waiter in Pennsylvania, Gosselin admits his kids are taken care of financially but they were hindered by reality television in a lot of ways.
“Yes, they got to travel the world, and yes, they got these fabulous things, and yes, they have trust funds, and they're taken care of educationally. Great," he said, Us Weekly reports. "But developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people, and they have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals and what's right and what's wrong. I think more so than someone who grows up off TV."
Gosselin, who now has virtually no relationship with his ex-wife Kate, also said the show tarnished his reputation.
“The most common misperception [is] that I cheated on my wife, that I left my family, that I'm a party boy. But my family knows the truth,” he said.
