Lakers power forward Jordan Hill's career night of 24 points and 17 rebounds helped Los Angeles turn it up in the second half to defeat the struggling Detroit Pistons, 114-99.

The Lakers were on a mission in the second half, scoring 16 straight points between the third and fourth quarters over a five minute span. Steve Blake had nine points and 16 assists in the win. According to LA Times Blake was just two assists away from his career high.

Brandon Jennings put up 23 points for Detroit and big man Andre Drummond added 14 points and 13 boards. The Pistons have now lost five of their last six contests, reports USA Today.

Los Angeles shot 52.2 percent from the field, 40 percent from behind the arc and a perfect 10 out of 10 from the free throw line. They showed persistence down low grabbing by grabbing 38 rebounds against a tall Pistons front court.

The Pistons had five players in double figures, including Josh Smith's 18 and Greg Monroe's 17.
