Justin Bieber’s South America trip is not going as well as planned. From leaked videos of him sleeping to walking into brothels, the trip has been more eventful than the Biebs could hope. The Buenos Aires show on Nov. 9 was particularly troublesome, since he had to end the show early because of food poisoning. But it turns out that this wasn’t the only story from that show. He also kicked an Argentine flag off the stage, which offended some.

In a one-minute video that has gone viral, a flag ends up on the stage, just at Bieber’s feet. He tries to kick it off the stage, but winds up using his microphone stand as a mop to sweep it off the stage. This quickly caught the attention of his Argentine fans, who slammed him for desecrating their national flag.

So, Bieber went to Twitter to issue a lengthy apology. “Heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and im shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there,” he wrote. Bieber said that he believed it was a bra at first that was thrown on the stage and it turned out to be a shirt, not a flag, according to his team.

“Im being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina,” he wrote, “or the people of Argentina or the fans. Im so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake.”

He continued, apologizing directly to his fans in Argentina and around the world.

“I would never do anything to disrespect my fans. I dont like having to defend myself but this time it was needed as I mean no disrespect,” Bieber wrote. “so it is all love all around the world. thanks.” He concluded his tweets by writing:

As previously reported, Bieber had to end that show early because he wasn’t feeling well. The pop star blamed it on food poisoning.
