It seems controversy follows Justin Bieber everywhere he goes these days, but he’s making a few things clear in a new profile for The Hollywood Reporter. Bieber appears on the cover of the magazine with his manager, Scooter Braun.

It’s been almost a year since the successful pop star gave a lengthy interview, and a lot has happened in that time period.

"I don't give a f---,” Bieber told THR of the constant controversy. "Not 'I don't give a f---' to just be reckless and do whatever, but 'I don't give a f--- what they say.' … I know who I am and what I'm doing in my life and what I've accomplished and continue to accomplish as a performer, as a writer, as an artist, as a person, as a human being. I'm happy with the man I'm becoming."

His longtime manager, Braun, blamed his generation’s obsession with social media on hindering him from growing up in the public eye.

"He's the only person in humanity who's grown up the way he has -- with smartphones and cameras on him 24/7," he said. "Another kid can go out and have a good night on the town, and no one gives a crap, but Justin is the most Googled person on the planet -- for four years straight!"

E! Online notes other highlights of the profile include Bieber saying he’s "very influenced by black culture” and admitting he “doesn’t trust anybody” but his parents and Braun with his career and “that’s it.”
