Kanye West spoke about his fiancé Kim Kardashian’s reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashains, comparing it to The Cosbys and giving them credit for perpetuating interracial relationships.
Kardashian was previously married to African American producer Damon Thomas and she’s of course now engaged to West. Her sister, Khloe Kardashian, is married to NBA star Lamar Odom, also African American.
“A lot of what the Kardashians do that I don’t think they get enough credit, is they prep America to understand interracial relationships,” he said during his interview with Hot97 this week, Gossip Center reports.
He added it’s the same concept as The Cosby Show “prepping” America for middle class black families. “I’d like to point out that I feel that The Cosby Show that I grew up on is part of the reason why America was prepped to accept, you know, a middle class black family in that way,” he said.
West went on to say that although he isn’t a fan of being on the show himself, he made sure the E! camera crew was there to catch his proposal on tape because he knew it would make Kardashian happy.
“When we got engaged I made sure the show was there [filming] because I felt like that's something that would make her happy,” he said.
