Bad Judge is the new comedy NBC just picked up that will star Kate Walsh and executive produce. The show’s creators, Gary Sanchez Productions, is run by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
According to The Hollywood Reporter centers on a hard-living, sexually unapologetic woman (Walsh) who plays with the law and whose life on the edge is constantly in balance, as she also happens to be a judge in the San Bernardino Criminal Court system.
This is a continuation of the relationship between Walsh and Gary Sanchez Productions, who also produce the online comedy site Funny Or Die, which the actress has made several appearances in. This is also a second go-around with NBC for Walsh who started to develop a semi-autobiographical comedy for the network but never got past the development stage.
Variety reports Chat Kultgen, who has fielded comedy pilots for FX, CBS and ABC in recent years, is set to write the script. Kultgen exec producers for Universal TV with Gary Sanchez’s McKay and Ferrell along with Anne Heche, Jill Messick and Walsh.
Bad Judge is the sixth pilot NBC has ordered for the 2014-15 season, and third comedy.
