Lady Gaga and her longtime manager, Troy Carter, who have worked together since 2007, are ending their partnership. They haven’t confirmed it, but sources say they weren’t seeing eye-to-eye creatively anymore.
Gaga has been the creative genius behind most of her career moves, while Carter managed the business end of their partnership. She also works with Vince Herbert as her A&R manager.
According to USA Today, their partnership helped her sell 20 million albums internationally. It started when Carter got her a deal at Interscope records and has worked with her ever since.
Showbizz411 first reported the news, saying Gaga and Carter are parting ways to due to “creative differences.” Carter was reportedly pushed out of the making of ARTPOP because the pop star “doesn’t take direction anymore.”
ARTPOP, her third studio album, will be available starting Nov. 11. Her single “Applause” has peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard chart, with Katy Perry and Lorde taking the lead.
