As Kanye West proposed to reality star Kim Kardashian, a fifty-piece orchestra played Lana Del Rey’s single “Young & Beautiful.” West had envisioned the proposal differently as he wanted the seductive soulful songstress to be singing at the proposal, but Rey declined the offer.

E! Online confirmed that the dynamic couple got engaged on October 21st. West popped the question in front of their family and friends at the AT&T Park in San Francisco. With West Yeezus Tour starting near San Jose, he rented out the stadium for the occasion.

A source told RadarOnline that, “Lana politely declined, and didn’t give any reason for not being able to perform. It was a very firm "no" from Lana and her camp. Kanye did try to push it, but didn’t get anywhere. Kanye decided to hire an orchestra to perform the song for Kim, and he was much happier with how it turned out.”

West went on to confirm that Rey declined the offer in his interview with Big Boy on Power 106 that he attempted to fly Rey out to San Francisco so she could perform, but he couldn’t convince her. After playing “Young and Beautiful,” the orchestra played West’s single "Knock You Down" that features Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo.

Rey went on to tell TMZ, "I would never deny his request, that's not true." Rey was then asked a series of questions of, “what happened?” and if she would sing at the wedding, but wouldn’t comment further on the matter.
